Welcome

Lindfield East Public School has an active P&C Association. The P&C Association is an incorporated organisation with a constitution prescribed by the Department of Education. It consists of parents, teachers and interested citizens from the community who come together with the following objectives:

  • to promote the interests of the school by bringing parents, citizens, students and teaching staff into close co-operation;
  • to assist in providing facilities and equipment for the school and in promoting the recreation and welfare of the students at the school.

WHAT'S NEW...AND WHAT'S GONE!!

The BIG news for 2010 is the replacement of CHICKEN DRUMMIES with CHICKEN TENDERLOINS.  While this may not please many of our loyal customers initially, we have made the decision based on a healthier option.  Tenderloins are similiar, larger and contain more real chicken than the 37% chicken found in the little old drummy!!  They are like the sweet chilli tender used in wraps, but without the sweet chilli part. From the start of term a chicken tender will cost the same as a drummy (80c), and from Monday 8 February it will cost $1.00. Sweet chilli tenders will still be available for lunches.

HAMBURGERS will not be available until further notice.  We were not happy with the quality of them from our supplier, and will look into other options later this term.  CHICKEN BURGERS are still on the menu.

In addition to BANANA BREAD we will now be offering PEAR &RASPBERRY BREAD.  Each piece will cost $1 and is available at recess and lunch.

Sachets of TOMATO SAUCE and SWEET CHILLI SAUCE are available for 20 cents each.

Our Tuesday recess special of FRIED RICE will not be available in the hotter weeks of this term.  We will advise when this has returned to the menu.

PADDLEPOP CHOC CUPS will be trialled from Friday 29th, at $2.00 each.  All of the other frozen favourites will be back too.

URGENT CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS - 2010

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who have wrapped wraps, baked potatoes, slinkied apples and served a zillion jelly joys last year!  We would not be able to run the canteen without you.

There were quite a few occasions however, where we struggled to get enough help as the canteen has become much busier than in the previous years!  Any help at all is greatly appreciated, whether it is an am shift or a pm shift or an emergency hour here or there, (however, if you can do a whole shift, it is a lot easier to organise the roster and it does mean more helpers on more days).

We are currently creating the new roster for Term 1 and would love to see as many responses as possible.  If you can help out, would you please come into the Canteen to see us, give us a call on 9415 6236 or drop us a note with your details and availability. Or email your details to "The Canteen"  It would be wonderful to see some new faces too - so if you are new to the school, please pop in - we are not too scarey and we do have a bit of fun!!

Message from the President

It has been a busy year so far and I want to thank the many parents and community members who have worked hard and supported our school and the P&C Association.

We have been able to support LEPS and the education of our children in very meaningful ways.

From voluntary contributions from parents at the start of the year, plus fundraising activity this year and late last year, the P&C have committed to fund a total of $195,000 in 2009 to the school as follows:

  • $80,000 for Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) for literacy and numeracy
  • $69,000 for interactive whiteboards (“Smartboards”)
  • $25,000 for a technology teacher
  • $16,000 for the construction of the Library Computer Lab
  • $5,000 for new class novels for Stage 2 and 3

The major fundraising activity has included Chicago Night, Walkathon, and Father’s and Mother’s Day stalls.   An exciting new fundraising initiative (LEPS MarketPlace) has also been launched!

GET ENOUGH SLEEP

The website has been creating a lot of interest in yr 4 this week as we looked at what time 10 yr olds went to bed. Most were disappointed to find out that they were not alone in their “early” bedtimes. See the results of the poll together with an article on how much sleep children really need to live the active lifestyles they enjoy.

In the following weeks we will be looking at how you manage screen time.

- Do you set a fixed amount of time per week for TV, computer, playstation etc?

- do you try but usually end up saying OK just 10 more minutes to finish a game.

- Or do you encourage your child to self regulate.

Have your say now

LEPS Marketplace News

The LEPS Market Place is off to a great start, thanks to the support of the wonderful LEPS community and the business partners. The concept was launched on 29 May 2009 and the website was launched on September 1. Since then, the LEPS Market Place has raised over $10,000, all with your support.

I would like to thank the LEPS Market Place Committee for their dedication and enthusiasm. It is an honour to have the opportunity to work, learn and laugh with them.
