About LEPS P&C

About Us

Through the P&C Association parents may be involved in all aspects of the school, working in partnership with the teaching staff and the Principal to achieve the best possible learning environment for our children. Membership of the P&C Association is open to all parents at the annual cost of $1.00.

Being a member entitles parents to vote on issues raised at P&C meetings, and to hold positions on P&C sub-committees. All P&C positions fall vacant at the AGM which is held on the third Tuesday in February each year.

The effectiveness of the P&C in achieving its objectives is greatly increased by as many members as possible actively participating in the various meetings and functions of the P&C.

The P&C Association meets on the third Tuesday of each month during the term at 7.30 pm, in the teachers’ staff room.

The funds raised by the various P&C operations - along with the P&C Voluntary Contribution made by parents at the beginning of the year - are vital in enabling the P&C to fund a number of significant projects.

Volunteers Needed for New Roles

The P&C makes a valuable contribution to the facilities available to all children at the school but we can only do so with the help of volunteer parents.  Please consider helping – it’s a great way to get really involved in your child’s education and to meet new people. We are looking for help with these two areas

Message from the President

Dear Parents,

It has been a busy year so far and I want to thank the many parents and community members who have worked hard and supported our school and the P&C Association.

We have been able to support LEPS and the education of our children in very meaningful ways.

From voluntary contributions from parents at the start of the year, plus fundraising activity this year and late last year, the P&C have committed to fund a total of $195,000 in 2009 to the school as follows:

  • $80,000 for Support Teacher Learning Assistance (STLA) for literacy and numeracy
  • $69,000 for interactive whiteboards (“Smartboards”)
  • $25,000 for a technology teacher
  • $16,000 for the construction of the Library Computer Lab
  • $5,000 for new class novels for Stage 2 and 3

The major fundraising activity has included Chicago Night, Walkathon, and Father’s and Mother’s Day stalls.   An exciting new fundraising initiative (LEPS MarketPlace) has also been launched!

Your continued support and help for future events will ensure we can continue to fund important teaching support, educational aids, and infrastructure which the government does not currently fund.

As well as fundraising, the P&C sub-committees manage:

The P&C also represents parents views on matters such as road safety, government funding, etc.

I’d like to offer a big thank you to all the committee members who lead these important contributions and the Parent’s Auxiliary and other volunteers who give their time to make it all happen!

Brenda Davy

President of LEPS P&C
