Fundraising at LEPS

All of us appreciate the great teaching resources and the facilities that are available at our school. These resources are being used daily by our wonderful teachers at LEPS to help every child achieve their potential. A significant part of these resources is funded by the annual P&C contributions and the various fundraisers each year.

Did you know that the P&C contributed over $200,000 in 2009 to fund school resources for your children? The funds went to refurbishing the Canteen, smartboards in the classrooms, Support Learning teachers, books, educational resources, sporting equipment, specialized technology teacher and more.

These funds come from parent contributions each year and fundraising activities organised by the school community.

P&C Fundraising & Events in 2010

Welcome Back

Thank you to the Welcome Back Committee – Kathryn Oaten, Jessica Raimond, Annabelle Tallentire, Tanya Davey, Georgina Ford and Sakuna Pho for a wonderful evening.

The Welcome Back evening is organised by Year 1 each year with the Deputy Principal. As the event is at the start of Term 1, Kindy 2010 will organise the event for 2011. More information about this will be available at the start of Term 3.

Major Fundraiser

Year 2 will be organising the major fundraiser for 2010. Jo Lamberth is the convenor for the major fundraiser. The event will be held the evening of Saturday, 4 September at the Kerrabee Centre at Killara High School. Please put the date in your diary – more details will follow shortly.

LEPS Market Place (LMP)

The LEPS Market Place is a long term fundraiser which supports the Building Fund. The LMP committee consists of 10 members who have children from K-6. Sandra Lee is the convenor of the LMP. Year 3 will provide support to the LMP committee. The success of the LMP depends on the whole school and as such, support from everyone in the LEPS community would be needed. Check out www.lepsmarketplace.com.au.

A new Fundraising Committee has been established to implement the new fundraising model for 2010. This Fundraising Committee will be made up of members of the P&C Executive team and Convenors from the following grades in 2010:

Year 1 - Welcome Back Night (Convenors to come from Kindy 2009)

Year 2 - Major fundraiser (fete or another event)

Year 3 - LEPS Market Place

Year 4 - Secondary fundraiser (walkathon or another event)

Kindy, Year 5 & 6 to support by acting as primary volunteers for each event.

This model spreads the fundraising efforts more evenly and has the potential to generate a greater community spirit within each grade and across the school. Other schools in the North Shore have used a similar model and have found it to be a positive experience for the school community.

Every family has the opportunity and is encouraged to participate and support in a number of ways. Every contribution, big or small is always appreciated.

Thank you for your support.
