VOLUNTEERS

The canteen can only run with parent/friend volunteer assistance. If you can spare some time please consider putting your name on our roster as we really need help.

If you would like to help, but cannot manage a whole day, you may elect to do a morning (drop-off till 11.30am) or afternoon (11.00am – 2.00pm). Or even just popping in to help whenever you can manage. We also have an Emergency List.

If you are rostered on and are unable to work please try to arrange a swap before contacting the canteen manager.

MENU CHANGES

We are trying to remove some of the unhealthier items from the canteen menu. Although the items that we have chosen are probably some of our more popular ones - they contain many additives/preservatives and colourings. The large volumes that our children consume are a serious concern to us and to many parents and we have decided to withdraw them. These are Jelly Joys, Jumpies and TNT iceblocks. However, it's not all bad news for the children....we have been trialling Smooze ices (coconut/fruit) which are 80c and these have proven quite popular. They are an all natural product and are delicious. In lieu of Jumpies we now stock various flavours of Grain Waves at $1.50, and Red Rock Deli Honey soy chicken chips at $1. These items do not have any of the additives/colouring etc that Jumpies have. To replace the 20 cent Jelly Joy, we can offer half a Quelch stick for 20 cents (full is 40 cents).

So if your children come home complaining about that fact that we have removed all the 'good' stuff from the canteen, please explain to them that we have done it for their own good as we really do care about them!

At the start of the year we replaced drummies with chicken tenders, which are larger and contain more chicken. Chicken tenders are $1.00

Canteen News

HELPERS ALWAYS NEEDED

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who have wrapped wraps, slinkied apples and served a smooze or two last term! We would not be able to run the canteen without you.

There were quite a few occasions however, where we struggled to get enough help as the canteen has become much busier than in the previous years! Any help at all is greatly appreciated, whether it is an AM shift or a PM shift or an emergency hour here or there, (however, if you can do a whole shift, it is a lot easier to organise the roster and it does mean more helpers on more days).

If you haven't been in for a while or if you are new to the school and you would like to help out, would you please come into the Canteen to see us, give us a call on 9415 6236 or drop us a note with your details and availability. Or email your details to "The Canteen" Bring a friend with you, or come and meet some new Mums and Dads! It is not too scarey and we do have a bit of fun, and your children will LOVE seeing you serving them at recess or lunch.

SUSHI WEDNESDAYS

Children may now order fresh sushi for lunch on Wednesdays.

A sushi roll will come served in halves in a container with soy sauce, and there will be a choice of Teriyaki Chicken or Tuna Sushi, and the cost is $2.50.

Depending on orders there may be a limited supply for sale at the counter at recess.
